Douglas Fire Completely Contained; Released back to Landowners

(Sundance, Wyo.) The Douglas Fire south of Sundance reached 100% containment on Saturday, June 25th. Though hot spots have been broken apart within the fire boundary, smoke may still be visible from time to time within the fire perimeter. The area has now been released back to Crook County and local landowners. Incident Commander Tyler Lindholm was very pleased with the response from the local community saying, "Without the support of our local communities, we could not have been as successful as we were in containing this fire. Thank you again for stepping up to assist the fire response. From the land owners who donated their land, water, time, and energy to help us fight this fire to the countless individuals and businesses who made donations, we thank you all." Eleven agencies, including Crook and Campbell Counties, responded to the fire last week. The South Dakota Department of Wildland Fire and Fremont, Goshen, Johnson and Weston Counties also assisted with containment, along with the US Forest Service, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and Bureau of Land Management. #county17 #news
