Fireworks in Campbell County; 91% fewer calls in Gillette than 2015

(Gillette, Wyo.) This morning Campbell County Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds reported that deputies responded to six calls over the fourth of July weekend for illegal fireworks. In one case on Saturday a 28 year old woman off of Adon Road north of Rozet was warned with a citation after deputies found her lighting off fireworks with her kids. She was unaware that there was a fire ban in place. On the 4th in Rozet, there were reports of fireworks in the area of Night Train Road but it turned out to actually be gunshots. Someone was firing a pistol for target practice. Lt. Chuck Deaton with Gillette Police reported seven calls for fireworks violations this weekend, six of them on the 4th and one on the 3rd. No citations were issued. From June 15th to July 15th in 2015, there were 138 fireworks complaints in the City, this year in the same time period there were only 13 complaints. While there wasn't a fire ban in 2015, fireworks within city limits are illegal regardless. #county17 #news
