Crook County Wildfire Smaller Than Original Estimate

(Sundance, Wyo.) Following a flight earlier today, the Browning Fire is approximately 875 acres in size and five percent contained. The Browning Fire is the name of the fire burning in the Sundance Canyon Ranch Subdivision, previously referred to as the Sundance Canyon Fire. It is located 15 miles southwest of Sundance. "We have had favorable conditions so far today to get a good line put around most of the fire," said Incident Commander Dick Terry. "There are roughly 75 people on the fire with a variety of resources." The top objective of the firefighting effort is to ensure public and firefighter safety. Protection of personal property is another top objective of the firefighting effort on the Browning Fire. Cooperators managing the fire include private individuals and contractors, as well as Wyoming State Forestry Division, Wyoming Honor Conservation Camp, Crook County, Weston County, and US Forest Service. #county17 #news
