Progress Overnight on Wildfire Near Sundance

(Sundance, Wyo.) The Browning Fire grew only slightly yesterday and is approximately 875 acres in size. A flight later this morning will allow the incident command to see if the area of the fire has changed over the past 12 hours. After a slow night last night, the fire is now 50% contained. The fire is burning in the Sundance Canyon Ranch Subdivision 15 miles southwest of Sundance. "Today we hope to strengthen the line we have around the fire," Incident Commander Dick Terry said. "The crews will continue putting out hot spots near the perimeter of the fire." The evacuation order for residents is still in place, but as the day progresses, Incident Command hopes that will be lifted by the evening. Cooperators managing the fire include a variety of private individuals and contractors as well as Wyoming State Forestry Division, Wyoming Honor Conservation Camp, Crook County, Weston County, US Forest Service, and City of Arvada, Colorado.
