Gillette College Athletes Receive Honors from NJCAA

(Gillette, Wyo.) The National Junior College Athletic Association has announced its honorees for the 2015-2016 school year, with the Gillette College Pronghorns leading the way as some of the best student-athletes in the nation. Cross Country and Track star Festus Legat was named a six-time First Team All- American. In addition, five Pronghorns were recognized by the NJCAA for their excellence inside the classroom, achieving a grade point average of 3.6 or higher. "We’re incredibly proud of our student-athletes and their accomplishments," said Athletic Director Jenni Winter. "Gillette College has become a hub not only for athletic achievement but for student-athletes looking to succeed beyond their sports." NJCAA All-American Honorees: *First Team* - Kavell Bigby-Williams, Basketball - Samantha Harmon, Half Marathon - Festus Lagat, Indoor Track & Field – 1,000-Meter Run; Indoor Track & Field – One-Mile Run; Outdoor Track & Field – 800-Meter Run; Outdoor Track & Field – 1,500-Meter Run; Cross Country; Half Marathon - Erick Rotich, Half Marathon *Second Team* - Erick Rotich, Cross Country *Third Team* - Mary Goulding, Basketball *Honorable Mention* - Erick Rotich, Outdoor Track & Field – 3,000-Meter Steeplechase NJCAA Academic Achievements: *Superior* (3.80-3.99 GPA) - Nakedra Burke – Women’s Basketball - Cassia Catterall - Women’s Indoor Track & Field; Women’s Outdoor Track & Field; Women’s Cross Country; Women’s Half Marathon - Mary Goulding – Women’s Basketball *Exemplary* (3.60-3.79 GPA) - Austin Asay – Women’s Indoor Track & Field; Women’s Outdoor Track & Field; Women’s Cross Country; Women’s Half Marathon - Shanna Urlacher – Women’s Indoor Track & Field; Women’s Outdoor Track
