UPDATE: Shooting Incident at Local Mobile Home Park

(Gillette, Wyo.) As of this morning, Sheriff's Deputies are still following up on interviews with residents at the former Hitching Post Trailer Park, south of Gillette, but processing of the scene has been completed. Sergeant Gary Sams with the Campbell County Sheriff's Office told County 17 that several shots had been fired at one particular home in the neighborhood. While area homeowners had deputies inspecting damage to their property, impact marks from this particular incident were only located on the residence in space #11. A vehicle parked in front of the residence was also hit, but reportedly it had not been an operable car for some time. Shell casings from the incident, which occurred some time before 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, were collected by deputies very early on in the investigation, to make sure evidence was not damaged by people leaving for work that morning, though the scene was closed off for some time Tuesday morning. The two people inside the trailer that was fired on did not hear gunshots at all that morning. It was their neighbors who had originally called in the shots to the Sheriff's Office. There were no injuries reported. "There's no reason for public concern," Sgt. Sams stated. "This isn't someone going through, randomly shooting at trailers at a trailer park." While Sams reported that there were more shell casings than bullet holes recovered at the scene, "everything matched up." Investigators do have some direction with the case and anticipate having a conclusion soon, at which time they'll have more information to release to the public. #county17 #news
