Former Wyoming Legislator Killed During Ranch Accident

(Gillette, Wyo.) Last night shortly before 8 p.m., EMS and Campbell County Sheriff's Deputies responded to an area on North Garner Lake Road, just north of I-90, for a four wheeler accident. Former state representative Troy Mader was herding cattle with his wife Cindy when a cow strayed from the herd and Mr. Mader attempted to get it back. His vehicle went down a draw with a 2-3 foot drop "straight down," according to Campbell County Sheriff Scott Matheny. The Sheriff does not believe the drop-off was visible. Mr. Mader was thrown from his 4-wheeler and died on site from his injuries. The 4-wheeler did not overturn during the incident. The couple was not on the Mader Ranch, and Sheriff Matheny is unsure at this time if the family was leasing the land on North Garner Lake for their own cattle or were helping herd someone else's livestock. He was also a former Sheriff's deputy, writer, musician, and rancher. #county17 #news
