(Gillette, Wyo.) The Law Enforcement Torch Run is part of the world's largest grass-roots fundraiser for the Special Olympics. Officers and athletes – the Guardians of the Flame – run the Special Olympics "Flame of Hope" through their communities to bring awareness Special Olympics competitions in their area. Officers were planning on biking the entire 70 mile trip, but postponed the event until today. Instead of biking, they jogged from the Port of Entry, down Douglas Highway to Campbell County Fire Station #3 at Dalbey Park. The total run today was a little over three miles. Tip A Cop, and Truck Convoy. All fundraising proceeds directly benefit the
athletes of Special Olympics Wyoming. Most importantly, officers
continually interact with Special Olympics athletes and are the primary
medal presenters at the area and state competitions.
