Couple Arrested At the Scene of a Recovered Stolen Vehicle

(Gillette, Wyo.) Sunday night, police officers were contacted by a woman on Emerson Avenue who reported that a suspicious white Honda Accord was parked behind her house. She said a man had showed up, hit the ignition on the car with a screwdriver and hammer, and left. Officers arrived at the vehicle at 6:40 p.m. and discovered it had been stolen out of Billings, Montana. While inventorying the Honda, a man and a woman arrived at the scene. The woman, 19 year old Amanda West, of Newcastle, jumped down out of a truck driven by 19 year old Sebastian Ream, also of Newcastle. When West noticed police were searching the car, she jumped back in Ream's truck and the two sped off. Officers caught up with them a few blocks away, which is when Ream jumped from the truck and ran from police on foot. He was detained on walnut street, and arrested for a bench warrant, interfering with an officer, and driving under suspension. In the truck, officers allegedly found a syringe loaded with suspected meth in the center console. Both Ream and West were then charged with possession of a controlled substance. The Honda was taken in to evidence, and police do have a suspect in its theft. #county17 #news
