(Gillette, Wyo.) Yesterday Gillette Police reported they had detained a man
suspected of shooting at a residence in the 800 block of North Gurley
Avenue. Today they released more details.
Brian Harris, 34, of Gillette allegedly went to a home on North Gurley
Thursday morning, stood outside a bedroom, and shot two 9mm rounds in to
the window of the residence. The shots struck two beds inside.
Harris then went around to the back of the home, stood outside the patio
doors, and fired another two rounds in to the living room, striking the
couch. No one was inside the home at the time.
He attempted to flee the scene in his KIA, but struck a 1979 Ford Pickup in
the process. Sheriff's deputies stopped him a short distance away at 8:28
a.m., recognizing his vehicle and description from dispatch. A handgun was
found inside his vehicle.
Harris will make an appearance in Circuit Court this afternoon. He is
currently being held in Campbell County Jail pending charges of aggravated
assault (a felony,) felony destruction of property, DUI, and failure to
report an accident (hitting the pickup).
