County rescinds fire ban effective at 6 p.m. today

*Fire damaged property by the Sheridan County Sportsman Gun Club earlier this year.* (Sheridan, Wyo.) — A fire ban in effect countywide since July 31, will be rescinded today at 6 p.m. The Sheridan County Commissioners voted today to rescind Resolution 15-08-016, lifting the fire ban upon the recommendation of the Sheridan County Fire Warden and the Fire Chiefs of the Rural Fire Protection Districts. Effective today at 6 p.m., open burning will be allowed in Sheridan County. "As always, we encourage the public to practice sound safety measures when burning as the weather may turn warm again," the County said in a press release. The public should continue to be aware that burning should not be done on Red-Flag Warning Days or anticipated high wind days. The County stressed that residents make the Sheridan Dispatch Center aware of burns to prevent unnecessary callouts of the volunteer fire departments by calling the Sheridan Dispatch Center at 307-672-2413. #dally
