Retired SHS administrator to show artwork at Fulmer Library

(Sheridan, Wyo.) — Dirlene and Neal Wheeler will exhibit artwork at Sheridan Fulmer Library in the Inner Circle during the month of November. After 17 years as an administrator at Sheridan High School, 14 years of that time serving as principal, Dirlene Wheeler retired in the spring of 2014. Retirement allowed her and her husband Neal to plan an extensive, year-long travel experience. “After the marriage of our son and a three week stint in Ireland with our daughter, we departed for Oregon to run in the Hood to Coast race,” said Wheeler. Upon their return to the U.S., the Wheeler’s began a tour of the country they had spent months planning. “Our travel plan began in Colorado, followed us to Maine, and all the way to Georgia,” said Wheeler. “The National Parks, forests, monuments, and historical sites touched our hearts and minds. The art and churches touched our souls. Instead of souvenirs, we wood-carved, photographed and painted our way across the country. Best of all, we returned to our beloved Sheridan, the most wonderful place on the planet.” The Wheeler’s artwork includes wood carvings, photographs and paintings. The items will be available for purchase with 30 percent of the proceeds donated to the Sheridan County Library. The Wheelers will give an evening program about their adventures on Nov. 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the Inner Circle. All ages are welcome and light refreshments will be served. #dally #whatshappening
