Sheridan Police Department accepting applications for Citizen Police Academy

(Sheridan, Wyo.) — The Sheridan Police Department is currently accepting applications for the 2016 Citizen's Police Academy, which features a series of classes designed to offer insight into how local police officers perform their duties and how the SPD serves the community. [image: Inline image 1] The classes are from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday from Feb. 16-April 12. Dinner is included. There is no fee to participate, but space is limited. Training will be in a relaxed and informal classroom and simulated real-world settings. Instructors will discuss domestic violence, the school resource officer program, patrol operations, tactical team operations, firearms, DUI investigation, drug awareness, criminal investigations and community service officers. Applications can be picked up at the SPD or online at (a descriptive brochure is also available online). Applications should be mailed or hand-delivered to the Sheridan Police Department by Dec. 31. #dally
