Holiday Show coming to The Brinton featuring Cody and Shell artists

(Big Horn, Wyo.) — The Brinton Museum’s 25th Annual Holiday Show, Hanson & Oriet, On and Off the Wall, will feature more than 70 original works by two Wyoming artists, Ann Hanson of Shell and Julie Oriet of Cody. Their work will be on display in the Forrest E. Mars Jr., Building’s third floor Jacomien Mars Reception Gallery from Nov. 29-Dec. 20. Incorporating the culture of a poetic American West, the show includes landscapes, western and portrait paintings ‘on the wall’ as well as one-of-a-kind small furniture pieces such as creative chairs and benches, ‘off the wall’. "While this is our 25th holiday show, it can also be viewed as our first since it inaugurates the holiday exhibition era in our remarkable new building,” said museum executive director Ken Schuster. “For that reason, it’s fitting that we will be hosting two women who I believe epitomize the Spirit of the West. Ann and Julie have deep roots here in the West, strong ties to the ranching lifestyle and have shown their work in numerous regional museums including The Brinton.” Ann Hanson was born in Bremerton, Wash., and grew up in rural Wyoming. She has been painting the West for more than 30 years. From cowboys and cowgirls to American Indians, she has a deep love for the Western way of life. "I love to paint. I hope that is one of the things people recognize when they view my work,” said Hanson. “I have been blessed with the great opportunity to follow my dream and create artwork every day.” *Ann Hanson "Go Girl" h/t The Brinton / Pitchengine Communities* Julie Oriet was born and raised near Bozeman, Mont. She grew up with a great love of the outdoors and animals. “I have always enjoyed the process of exploring new surfaces, textures, patterns and materials, while still being true to my vision for each piece,” said Oriet. “I love combining my western life with the experiences of my travel adventures.” *Feature photo Julie Oriet "Big Sky Bison" The Brinton / Pitchengine Communities* #dally #whatshappening #news
