Sheridan College Foundation receives fiduciary certification

(Sheridan, Wyo.) — The Sheridan College Foundation announced Tuesday its successful completion of the process to become certified for their fiduciary practices through the Centre for Fiduciary Excellence (CEFEX). The SC Foundation is one of the first community college foundations in the nation to complete the independent CEFEX certification process. “What this tells our supporters and donors is that we adhere to the strictest of global standards regarding our investment processes,” said Cindy Shoop, SC Foundation Board President. The CEFEX standard of excellence for Investment Stewards is based on 21 fiduciary practices that seek to increase long-term investment performance, evaluate fees and expenses, and review investment managers. "Through our independent assessment, the certification provides assurance to employees and stakeholders that the Sheridan College Foundation has demonstrated adherence to the industry’s best fiduciary practice," EFEX Managing Director, Carlos Panksep, said. The Foundation, a 501(c)(3) Type I supporting organization, was established in 1964. Last year, the Foundation provided over $3.4 million in support to Sheridan College including almost $700,000 in scholarships.
