NWCCD Board of Trustees member Walter Wragge named to national committee

(Sheridan, Wyo.) — Walter Wragge, a member of the Northern Wyoming Community College District Board of Trustees, has been reappointed as an associate committee member to the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) for 2016. Wragge will serve a third term on the Member Communications and Education Committee. According to Wragge, this committee is responsible for evaluating and making recommendations to strengthen the ACCT Board’s links with the membership; identifying issues that require member input; and recommending strategies to gather input. Additionally, the committee evaluates and makes recommendations to strengthen current ACCT education programs and recommend additional programs that promote effective board governance through advocacy and education. The first meeting for 2016 will take place on Sunday, Feb. 7, in conjunction with the Community College National Legislative Summit in Washington, D.C. “It has been a real pleasure serving on this national committee during the last year. We have dealt with all issues in regards to bettering our communications with our many member trustees and continue to deal with trustee education issues such as campus violence and student mental health-related policies. I believe strongly in continuing education for trustees on topics of their interest and current topics which will influence decisions and activities on their individual campuses,” Wragge said. A non-profit educational organization of governing boards, ACCT represents more than 6,500 elected and appointed trustees who govern more than 1,200 community, technical and junior colleges across the nation and beyond. “Having a member of our board active at the national level is a real benefit to our District,” said NWCCD President Dr. Paul Young. “Walt’s commitment to our students and communities is strong, as he stays well-informed of all of the national, state and local issues facing education today.” Wragge will join associate members from Illinois, Florida, Arizona and more. Wragge’s appointed term will run through the end of the 2016 ACCT Community College Leadership Congress in New Orleans, Louisiana, from Oct. 5-8, 2016. #dally #news
