Buffalo receives multiple honors from True West Magazine

(Buffalo, Wyo.) — There are thousands of great towns in the American West — ones that exemplify the spirit and dedication of the pioneers who built and developed them. But 10 of them stand out to True West Magazine, and they have been named the True Western Towns of 2016. Buffalo, Wyoming, is #3 on the list. "We are very pleased with our placement this year. Any placement on the list would be great but we are moving up steadily, year by year," the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce says. "Even after eleven years of doing this, choosing the top ten Western towns is challenging," True West Executive Editor Bob Boze Bell said. "But these communities really stand out. They maintain and celebrate their remarkable histories. These are the towns that we and others enjoy visiting." This is the eleventh year True West has presented this annual award. Editors base their selection on criteria demonstrating how each town has preserved it's history through old buildings, museums, and other institutions, events, and promotions of historic resources. All 10 towns will be featured in the Feb. 2016 issue, to be released Jan. 5, 2016. *h/t Buffalo Chamber of Commerce / Pitchengine Communities* Buffalo has also been named the "Best Place to Live Like an Old West Cowboy (Summer)", and was selected by the magazine readers as "The Best Town for Historic Entertainment". The Occidental Saloon was named the "Best Historic Saloon in the West 2016, Reader's Choice." "We are so proud to have this jewel of the west right on our Main Street. This award is much deserved," the Chamber says. *The Occidental Saloon h/t Buffalo Chamber of Commerce / Pitchengine Communities* *The Occidental Saloon h/t Buffalo Chamber of Commerce / Pitchengine Communities* *Feature photo Buffalo Chamber of Commerce / Pitchengine Communities* #dally #news
