Gov. Mike Sullivan to be honored as 'Citizen of the West' in Denver

(Denver, Colo.) — In the West — Wyoming especially — we generate a unique blend of citizens. Our leaders often show grit and integrity, and have enough real life experience to relate to every-day people. To honor those leaders, the National Western Stock Show names a Citizen of the West each year, with past honorees spanning the ranks of politicians to authors and ranchers. This year, former Gov. Mike Sullivan has been selected the National Western Stock Show 's Citizen of the West. "These modern day pioneers are honored for their economic and philanthropic endeavors in the West," the Stock Show says. Sullivan was raised in Douglas, became the 29th Governor of Wyoming in 1986 and in 1999, was asked by President Clinton to become US Ambassador to Ireland. Sullivan will be honored at a dinner ceremony in Denver on Jan. 11.
