Snow falls statewide; I-80 shuts down

(Sheridan, Wyo.) — While officials have said the snowpack levels are down for the year, a storm continues to dumps snow across the state today. A winter weather advisory issued by the National Weather Service of Billings remains in effect for the Sheridan area until 5 p.m. today. Total snow accumulation of two to five inches is expected. Snowy roads and reduced visibility caused alerts throughout the night in the northeastern area of the state, and the Wyoming Department of Transportation has closed portions I-80 near Rawlins and Laramie due to winter conditions. WYDOT said the I-80 closure may continue for an extended period of time. Check for updated information. Ten inches fell in Jackson Hole yesterday, and five to six inches fell in parts of Lincoln County.
