Wyoming Arts Council accepting Visual Arts Fellowship applications

(Wyoming) — The Wyoming Arts Council is now accepting applications from Wyoming residents for the 2017 Visual Arts Fellowships. The fellowships are merit-based awards selected on the artist’s portfolio and honoring work that reflects serious and exceptional investigation. Artists working in any media may apply online here before the deadline, March 21. Applications are juried by noted artists, curators, and other professionals in the field of visual arts from outside the state. This year’s jurors are: - Mindy Besaw, curator at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art - Bonnie Laing-Malcolmson, the Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Curator of Northwest Art at the Portland Art Museum - Ivar Zeile, director and owner of Plus Gallery and founder and director of Denver Digerati Up to three fellowships may be given each year, and jurors may also select honorable mentions. Recipients of Visual Arts Fellowships exhibit their work in the Wyoming Arts Council Biennial Exhibition, held every two years at a major museum in state. Work by the 2016 and 2017 Visual Arts Fellowship recipients will be shown at the Nicolaysen Art Museum in the fall of 2017. The exhibition will be curated by Bonnie Laing-Malcolmson, who has served as a juror for both years.
