Longtime city planning commissioner resigns

(Sheridan, Wyo.) — Longtime City of Sheridan Planning Commissioner Jason Szewc has announced today that he will resign. "As planning commission chair, I have to make decisions based on what is the right thing to do," Szewc said in an email statement to local media and city staff. Szewc said he has moved out of his apartment and is staying with family outside city limits. "Having a storage unit and general delivery to the U.S. Postal Service in Sheridan does not follow the guidelines for planning commission," Szewc said, adding that he consulted with Robert Briggs, Planning and Economic Development Director with the City, before announcing his resignation. "I am so grateful to have had such a wonderful opportunity to serve on the design review board and as planning commission as chair over the last eight years. I am regretfully going to have to resign from my position," Szewc said. Briggs said the City will advertise the position opening and solicit letters of interest to the mayor's office. Planning Commission Members are recommended by the mayor and appointed by vote of the council during regular meetings. #dally #news
