Man who firebombed Sheridan County Attorney's Office indicted for escape attempt

(Casper, Wyo.) — Joel S. Elloitt, the man who firebombed the Sheridan County Attorney’s Office in June of 2014 and tried to escape from the Natrona County Detention Center in December, has been indicted in the United States District Court in Casper for his escape attempt. A grand jury has charged that Elliott attempted to escape from the Natrona County Detention Center at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Dec. 15, 2015, according to court documents. Elliott made the escape attempt within a secure location inside the detention center, Oil City reported . Elliott never breached the secured area, nor were there any injuries to the inmate or any of the deputies. Elliott will face a trial for the escape attempt in Casper, and the sentence for an escape attempt is up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Elliott was sentenced to 37 years in prison in December for the 2014 arson of a building receiving federal funds; using a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence; possession of an unregistered firearm; and false declaration before the grand jury.
