Advocacy and Resource Center receives grant; still fundraising for $25,000 match

(Sheridan, Wyo.) — The Advocacy and Resource Center of Sheridan is very near to its goal of raising $25,000 to match an anonymous donor's offer, and has also received an exciting grant to further serve the Sheridan community this spring. "Our updated amount for our fundraising is $21,380, and of course our goal is $25K," Rhonda Weber, Victim Witness Coordinator for the Advocacy & Resource Center told Dally today. "We are VERY anxious to reach that goal because if we can, there will be a $25K match provided by an anonymous donor. "We are always so thankful to all the supporters, and when we really look at the numbers, we are beyond pleased to know that amount has come in over such a short period of time," she continued. The Center sent the letter request in the middle of November, and in just that short amount of time, have raised all but $3,620 to reach its goal. The Advocacy and Resource Center has also received a 2016 National Crime Victim's Rights Week (NCVRW) Community Awareness Project (CAP) grant from the Office for Victims of Crime. The grant will allow the Center to raise awareness through media and publication materials about NCVRW, and what it means for Sheridan residents. NCVRW is April 10-16, 2016, and the theme this year is "Serving Victims. Building Trust. Restoring Hope." The week "underscores the importance of early intervention and victim services in establishing trust with victims, which in turn begins to restore their hope for healing and recovery," Weber said. *Feature photo: "Celebratory selfie as we send off the first grant we worked on together! -Cassidy and Rhonda." h/t Advocacy and Resource Center Facebook / Pitchengine Communities* #dally #news
