(Sheridan, Wyo.) — A crowd of Sheridan leaders gathered today to the discuss the successes, goals and next steps for Sheridan County School District #2's Next Level
Next Level is a cache of people invested in Sheridan student success, and
serves as a connector for students and families seeking resources and
programs to make graduation possible.
Active committees focus on early childhood education, attendance, community
engagement and multiple pathways, which improves, supports and provides
interventions for students struggling at the high school level.
"There are alternative ways to be successful," Next Level and multiple
pathways committee member Cindy Dahl said.
Dahl explained that the group has participation from an array of
influencers across the county: Sheridan College, Child Advocacy Services of
the Bighorns, Big Brothers Big Sisters and more.
In its first quarterly meeting of 2016 today, the committees reported that
districtwide, the number of students with eight or more absences has
decreased since last year.
Next Level is also working to educate parents of young children about
kindergarten readiness, and the committees reported that schools have
implemented a "success academy," and continue to work on summer school
