High winds peak at 68 mph, cause WYDOT warnings

(Sheridan, Wyo.) — At 12:34 p.m., a peak wind gust of 68 mph occurred at the Sheridan airport, according to the National Weather Service of Billings. The strong northwestern winds were expected to gust in excess of 50 mph, locally to 60 mph. Rain and snow showers have followed the wind shift. The strongest winds will be active until 3 p.m. The Wyoming Department of Transportation has issued a number of highway warnings, includings no light trailers on I-90 and US 87.
