(Gillette, Wyo.) — Members of the Bomber Mountain Derby Devils met with Gillette's Coal Miner's Daughters Thursday night at the Cam-Plex for a team practice. The group out of Buffalo has been together a year now, and in that time they've recruited 4-5 regular skaters. But they still need a few more to fill out their roster and play competitively, which is their ultimate goal this year: "We just want to start bouting," said AMMOzon. "We'd love to be at WyoCup and skate, but right now we just need more players." WyoCup is the annual Wyoming Roller Derby competition. This year it's being hosted by the Heart Mountain Wreck On Wheels in Cody. Women's flat track roller derby is an all-inclusive sport. You can come out and practice even if you have no skating experience. Some of the best players in the world started out afraid to let go of the wall. "It doesn't matter what size you are, how fit you are, everyone is welcome," said TermaKnitter. Roller derby is a great way to meet people of all ages. The Buffalo team practices on Monday and Thursday nights at the Bomber Mountain Civic Center, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. They have loaner gear available for those without skates or protective pads. You can also look them up on Facebook
if you have any questions.
