Power outage Wednesday caused by semi accident; no injuries

(Ranchester, Wyo.) — A semi hit a transmission pole on Seymour Street, knocking out power for about 1,280 residential customers in Ranchester, Dayton and Acme yesterday. According to the Sheridan County Sheriff's Department, officers responded to the accident at 3 p.m. Wednesday. No injuries were sustained. Mark Hanson, spokesperson for Montana-Dakota Utilities, said this morning that by 3:40 p.m., crews were on site working to repair the line. Power was restored by 7:30 p.m. The crash did not knock the power out, but the transmission line was damaged enough that MDU had to turn off power for several hours so crews could make the repairs safely. "When you are dealing with high voltage power lines, you have to look at the safest, quickest possible way to repair those lines," Hanson said. #dally #news
