Spring volunteer opportunities on Sheridan Community Land Trust trails

"It’s a very exciting time for recreation in Sheridan, and we are thrilled so many (people) have shown an interest," the SCLT said in a recent newsletter. The SCLT is looking for the following help: *Trail Ambassadors* - The SCLT is launching a Trail Ambassador Program where individuals act as the eyes, ears and a friendly face on the trail. You will answer questions, give information, lend a helping hand, report issues, and be a welcoming presence. The commitment is flexible but will require around an hour or two a week of your time. *Improvements & Restoration* - These activities will range from augmenting the trails for appeal, such as building habitat or planting native vegetation, to creating challenging features for bikers such as banked corners and grade reversals. These projects will be ongoing, some will be scheduled, and others can be done on your own time. *Trail Building *- We will began building an additional mile of trail on state land this summer. This will be mostly hand built by volunteers using sustainable building techniques. There’s both an art and science to trail construction, and I’ll be looking for folks interested in learning these methods. This project will be ongoing until the snow flies, you could be involved as little or as much as you want. *Education and Outreach* - Do you have a specialty or knowledge of something you’d be interested in sharing? There will be many opportunities to share with people of all ages. Got an idea, let me know and we’ll see if we can put something together. *Events* - The land trust has numerous community events throughout the year that you could be involved in. And as we continue to grow, we are always looking for ideas and folks to make them happen. For more information on the SCLT, or to participate in any of the above activities, visit the SCLT website or call (307) 673-4702. #dally #news
