Seven people become United States citizens in Sheridan this afternoon

(Sheridan, Wyo.) — Today, Sheridan County welcomed seven new United States citizens to the community. Sheridan County Fourth Judicial District Court Judge John Fenn said that performing these ceremonies, which happen about once a year, is one of his favorite duties. "I think about my own great grandparents, who came to America three generations ago, for me, for a better life," Fenn said. "And, boy, they got that. The privileges and honor that has been bestowed upon me because of what my ancestors, my great grandparents did to come to America and become citizens—I just get pretty emotional and set back, because I have such a fortunate life because my ancestors did exactly what you have done to come here." The new citizens are: Milagro Aniveth Portillo, El Salvador Tram Thi Bich Tran, Vietnam Sadanand Arun Dhekney, India Arpik Isoyan Konkel, Uzbekistan Kim Richard Warren, United Kingdom Felicito Balcarcel Vasquez, Guatemala Bo Sun Walker, Peoples Republic of China Watch Judge Fenn read a letter from the daughter of one of Sheridan County's newest citizen's to her mother here. https://youtu.be/TJbQTy_8r30 Rep. Rosie Berger and Rep. Mark Kinner addressed the new citizens, welcoming them to the community as well. "We thank you for your courage, your effort, and your hard work in becoming a citizen. I think many of us who are born in America don't appreciate the values and the gifts that we have as citizens," Berger said. "I am excited to see you register to vote. As you know, we have a very interesting election coming up this year—not only for president, but for many other offices across the state that are important to us in making your government work better." *Feature photo and above: New citizens are sworn in during a naturalization ceremony today at the Sheridan County Courthouse today. / Pitchengine Communities* *[image: Inline image 3]* *Sheridan County Rep.
