Sheridan community will celebrate its volunteers tomorrow

(Sheridan, Wyo.) — It is our volunteers who make Sheridan what it is, Sheridan Mayor John Heath recently said. And so the Sheridan community will celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Day, which is officially April 18, with an awards and appreciation ceremony Saturday, April 9, at 11:30 a.m. at the Sheridan Senior Center. "These are just two of our (volunteer) grandmas who help to make our schools a better place for our children," Bonnie Yalowizer told the City of Sheridan before reading a proclamation honoring local volunteers in front of the council Monday. The success of our community is interwoven with the role that volunteers have played in the community and the city as a whole, she said, and the ceremony tomorrow and day April 18, is a chance for the community to pay respect to the volunteers we have. John Heath "We are truly blessed in this community to have volunteers," Heath said. "From Third Thursday to special events, volunteers are what makes this community great." *Feature photo: Billie Handel, volunteer grandparent at Holy Name Catholic School, and Carol Dau, Highland Park volunteer grandparent, listen as the Volunteer Appreciation Day proclamation is read at City Hall Monday. /
