(Sheridan, Wyo.) — The news can be bleak day after day, when companies like Peabody declare bankruptcy
and the BNSF
talks about closing its Sheridan stop
The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce
has compiled this list of key
local employment resources, including information on an upcoming job fair:
*Sheridan Workforce Center* (a part of the State of Wyoming's Department of
Workforce Services), temporarily located at 1095 Sugarview Drive (behind
Perkins Family Restaurant on Coffeen Ave.), 672-9775, www.wyomingatwork.com.
A primary source of area job openings, but also offering one-on-one
services with interest assessments, resume preparation, and interviewing
tips and practice.
*Resource Staffing* (private, locally owned employment service), 304
Coffeen Ave., 675-1960. Also specializing in temporary staffing and work
that allows for flexible scheduling. www.wystaffing.com
These two organizations are not only sources of local job openings, the
Chamber says, but are available for other types of job-seeking help as
well, such as interest assessments, resume preparation, and interviewing
tips and practice.
And on Thursday, April 28, the VA Medical Center will host a job fair in
the Auditorium, Building 61, 1898 Fort Road.
The annual Veterans' Job Fair is open to non-veterans as well. During the
Job Fair, veterans and community members can meet representatives from
educational institutions, community partners, and local businesses. Some of
the participating employers will be planning to do on-the-spot interviews
(so be prepared). 1-2 p.m. - veterans only, and from 2-4 p.m., the fair
will be open to the general public.
The job fair is sponsored by the Sheridan VA Medical Center and the Wyoming
Department of Workforce Services. For more information, call Jamie
Yellowtail at 675-5414 or Jodi Bourne at 672-3473 Ext 3868.
