VOA Empty Bowl event to benefit Sheridan Homeless services

(Sheridan, Wyo.) — Volunteers of America (VOA) will hold its eighth annual Empty Bowl event, Thursday, April 28, from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds, 1753 Victoria St. This year the Empty Bowl has moved to a bigger venue, Sheridan County Fairgrounds. "The evening will be a wonderful way to not only raise money, but raise awareness for the homeless in our community," said Skye Heeren, Director of Development, Wyoming. "We will have live music, face painting and games for kids while enjoying gourmet soups and taking home handcrafted bowls made by community members.” “All funds raised at Empty Bowl go directly to the Sheridan community homeless services. With the Sheridan Community Shelter operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, no other program relies on community support as much as the Shelter does," Claude Alley, Director of Homeless Services said. “This event allows guests to enjoy a 'simple' dinner to emulate meals one might have at a soup kitchen. The handcrafted bowls are taken home to serve as a reminder about homelessness throughout the year,” Alley explained. Tickets for the event are available at the door with costs of $25 for families, $10 for adults, and $5 for kids; children five and under are free.
