New playground planned for Woodland Park area

(Sheridan, Wyo.) — There are around 70-80 kids living in the Woodland Park Trailer Court, and they need a new playground. So for about nine months, Real Life Church has been partnering with the community residents with the dream of one day renovating the existing Woodland Park playground, John Holst of Real Life Sheridan said. That dream will come true with a community build on May 14th and 15th. The playground conditions at beginning of the project were bleak, with one merry-go-round, some tires and lots of weeds, Holst said. In "Phase 1" of the project, the city donated metal swings and monkey bars from the old Woodland Park Elementary School playground. Real Life Church installed this equipment last fall. In "Phase 2," crews will install a $11,500 center play structure. "This was too big to accomplish as a new church, so (Real Life) sought out help from the community," Holst said. With the financial help of Cornerstone, Bethesda, First Assembly, Real Life, Church of Christ, and private donors, the effort has raised enough to buy the structure. Qdoba will provide lunch for workers on Saturday, and the Girls School will serve lunch on Sunday. Bounce houses and Cotton Candy will be provided by Real Life. The community build will culminate with a Sunday Celebration BBQ, provided by Jesse Holzemer with Thrivent Financial. Timeline: May 14th 8-11:30 a.m. Assemble playground structure 11:30-12:30 p.m. Lunch for volunteers provided by Qdoba and served by Girl School 12:30-5 p.m. Installation of play structure with concrete for poles, spread pea gravel. May 15th 10-11 a.m. Church Celebration Service at playground 11 a.m. Ribbon cutting ceremony, playground grand opening 12-1 p.m. Community BBQ (free hotdogs, sides, and pop) [image: Inline image 1] *Feature photo and above Pitchengine Communities* #dally #news
