Truck carrying paper caused more than 13-hour closure of 14A

Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper Randy Davis reports that a tractor-trailer combination carrying paper overturned at about 2 a.m. this morning, blocking all lanes of traffic of 14A . It was finally cleared and reopened at about 3:30 p.m. this afternoon. Davis said didn't have the truck in a low gear as it began its descent between Lovell and the Burgess Junction on the southbound switchbacks. Davis said the trailer tipped over first, taking the cab with it. It continued to slide downhill, crushing against a barrier, spilling large rolls of paper and the back across the width of the highway. In all, the truck slid approximately 500 feet. Davis said the lengthy closure was due to the logistics involved in moving such a truck and trailer. The driver, who was from Texas, said it was the steepest stretch of road he'd encountered. He was uninjured. #dally #reboot #news
