Downtown Dazzle will electrify downtown Kansas City for a fourth consecutive holiday season – this year, for a full month 

Major lighting installation, a new, stand-alone website and a brand refresh point Downtown Dazzle in a new direction for the future

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Oct. 9, 2017) – Downtown Dazzle returns to downtown Kansas City during the holidays for a fourth consecutive year of festive activities and celebrations. The event has historically been held during three weekends in December, but will span more than a month this year as the event looks toward growth for the future. The event will run Friday, Nov. 24, 2017 through Monday, Jan. 1, 2018. Downtown Dazzle will continue its mission of supporting the marketing of all holiday events and activities happening in the downtown Kansas City area during the holiday season. This year, it will also build its own lighting installation as a key component to attract downtown visitors. 

The Downtown Dazzle lighting installation will be built in Washington Square Park, located at Pershing Road and Grand Boulevard, immediately north of Crown Center. This installation will act as a corridor of lights connecting Crown Center’s iconic holiday lighting display, including the 100-foot-tall Mayor’s Christmas Tree, to the KC Streetcar stop at Union Station. The KC Streetcar, a free mode of transportation for Downtown Dazzle guests, will connect multiple downtown areas’ holiday activities, including those at Crown Center, Union Station, Crossroads Arts District, Power & Light District, Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts and City Market. In addition to the KC Streetcar, Downtown Dazzles trolleys will operate every Saturday between Nov. 25 – Dec. 23 from 5-9 p.m. The trolleys will run continuously between Crown Center and the KC Live! Block in the Power & Light District and will be free to downtown holiday guests.

A new, stand-alone Downtown Dazzle website has also launched for 2017. is now fully optimized for mobile use and allows for a more traditional and fluid user experience to help site visitors navigate in a comfortable way. It provides key details for guests to make their Downtown Dazzle experience seamless and enjoyable, including:

  • Holiday hours of operation for the Downtown Dazzle trolleys and KC Streetcar
  • The incorporation of Google Maps, providing a visual mapping for Downtown Dazzle trolley stops, lighting installations and other holiday activities
  • Full event listings of downtown-area holiday activities and celebrations taking place between Nov. 24, – Jan. 1

The Downtown Dazzle branding has been refreshed for 2017, to help build the brand as a cohesive holiday campaign for all of downtown Kansas City.

Downtown Dazzle is an annual experience of lights and festivities connecting attendees to Kansas City’s downtown neighborhoods during the holiday season.
