GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., October 10, 2018 – Deckorators®, a brand of Universal Forest Products, Inc. (Nasdaq: UFPI), has expanded its innovative line of wood-alternative decking with the launch of VoyageTM. This new line of composite decking featuring patented EovationsTM technology will be available to Canadian building material dealers and deck builders for the 2019 season.
Like other members of the Deckorators Eovations decking family, Voyage delivers the industry’s best strength-to-weight ratio, absorbs virtually no moisture, and allows virtually no thermal expansion or contraction. Voyage adds to these benefits the bold look of vertical grain variegation, along with innovative textured embossing for enhanced traction on the deck surface.
The new vertical grain variegation gives Voyage — an ultra-low maintenance composite — the trend-forward appearance of the highest-quality wood. Voyage comes in four beautiful colors that are the most popular in outdoor living spaces among homeowners: Sierra (dark gray), Tundra (gray), Costa (golden brown) and Mesa (red brown).
Already proven in global Deckorators applications, the unique textured embossing makes Voyage one of the most slip-resistant composite deck boards available in Canada. The embossing offers homeowners the enhanced safety of superior traction underfoot in both dry and wet conditions.
“We use extensive input from dealers and contractors to develop products that help them stand out from the competition,” said Chris Camfferman, managing director, marketing, Universal Forest Products. “Our partners in Canada have experienced the unique benefits of our Frontier and Vault composite decking with Eovations technology. We’re thrilled to introduce them to Voyage, the best product in a good-better-best Eovations line.”
Voyage will be available for 2019 in 12-, 16- and 20-foot solid and slotted-edge profiles, as well as 12-foot fascia. It is backed by a 25-year structural, 25-year stain-and-fade and 25-year removal-and-replacement limited warranty that covers water and ground contact. Deckorators is one of the only brands in the industry to stand behind installations in, or in contact with, water or ground.
Eovations technology makes Voyage decking strong, lightweight and stable. During the Eovations process, a polymer-mineral blend is extruded and stretched. The result is a fibrous, 7/8-inch-by-5½- inch composite board that looks and works like wood. At the same time, each board is:
· 35 percent lighter than most wood-plastic composite decking and similar in weight to PVC for easier handling on the job site.
· Twice as strong as PVC decking in terms of stiffness-to-weight ratio for superior durability.
· Moisture-resistant because it contains no organic material.
· Extremely stable with the lowest thermal expansion/contraction of any thermoplastic deck board.
Voyage is capped with durable polypropylene to create a surface that is stain-, fade- and scratch-resistant.
