Climb Tulsa Announces Grand Opening of New Location & World Class Climbing Gym - Friday, June 15th
Climb Tulsa is now one of the largest climbing gyms in the United States.
Tulsa, OK – We’re climbing the walls with excitement! Climb Tulsa Co-Owner, Jason Burks along with his long-time friend, business partner and Co-Owner Lee Sherman, announce the grand opening of Climb Tulsa’s new location and nearly 17,000 square foot “state-of-the-art” climbing facility at 32nd & Yale. This new location is about 10 times the size of the old climbing gym, formerly known as New Heights Climbing Gym. Climb Tulsa establishes one of the largest climbing gyms in the United States here in Tulsa (top 20%).
Local companies, CJC Architects, Inc. and Red Dog Construction designed and built the facility in 16 months after a ground breaking in January, 2017. The modern interior climbing walls were designed and installed by the world renowned company, Walltopia, based in Europe, featuring some climbing routes that you won’t find anywhere else.
“So much hard work from hundreds of people from all over the world has gone into the creation of one of the nicest climbing facilities in the USA, right here in Tulsa,” said Jason Burks, Climb Tulsa Co-owner, “I’ve been rock climbing for more than five years now and have been climbing all over the world, and these climbing walls here in Tulsa are already some of my favorite.”
“Jason and I work well together a when I retired last year, he asked me to join him in building a new climbing gym for Tulsa, said Lee Sherman, Climb Tulsa Co-Owner, “Although I won’t spend much time on the walls myself, I see a unique experience for parents and grandparents to engage with their children in an exciting, personal one-on-one activity. After owning Hahn Appliance for 34 years, I am honored and look forward to continuing being involved with the Tulsa community by bringing one of the finest climbing gyms to a fine city like Tulsa.”
The new Climb Tulsa gym will have a staff of 22 including climbing, yoga and fitness trainers. The new gym will help boost the Tulsa economy by hosting national climbing competitions, train climbing athletes for the newly inducted rock climbing Olympic sport and will become a tourist attraction.
