CINCINNATI— Zachary Heck, data privacy and security attorney at Faruki Ireland & Cox P.L.L. has been selected to speak at the 2016 Northern Kentucky University’s Cybersecurity Symposium.
Heck will be speaking about a hot topic in cybersecurity right now: biometric identification. In place of passwords, companies and researchers are beginning to adopt biometric identification, which uses unique human attributes to authenticate identity. Biometric technology is widely hailed as the gold standard of user authentication, but it also presents major privacy risks. Heck will provide practical examples of data governance considerations when assessing and mitigating the risk of storing biometric data.
Last year’s Cybersecurity Symposium drew a large amount of attendees, made up of lawyers, IT professionals, business owners, academic professionals, and representatives from both healthcare and financial services.
This year’s conference covers a broad range of cybersecurity topics from technical to legal:
- Information Security Governance and Compliance
- Software Security
- Mobile & Computer Forensics
- Emerging Topics in Security
- Legal Issues in Privacy and Security
- Healthcare Cybersecurity
The keynote speakers for the event are Michael Carr, Chief Information Security Officer at the University of Kentucky and Murray Kenyon, Senior Vice President at Financial Services Roundtable | BITS.
