Fremont Community Health Center provides variety of affordable quality health care

- Fremont Community Health Center is focused on the health needs of county residents, says Julie Shirk, RN and clinical manager of the FCHC in Riverton. 

At FCHC, Steve Jarrard, MD, Richard Harris, PA-C, and Tara Blumenshine, Certified Nurse Midwife, provide a variety of quality health care services to Fremont County residents, including: family and internal medicine, women’s health, physical exams for sports and jobs, laboratory work, chronic disease management, comprehensive well child care, pharmacy assistance and specialist referrals. 

Dr. Jarrard brings 25-plus years of emergency room experience in Fremont County, along with his experience as a general practice physician to FCHC. He is certified in American Board of Emergency Medicine, and was born and raised in Montana. 

Harris also brings many years of experience to the job, including 37 years in orthopedic, family practice, internal and emergency medicine. He also worked in orthopedics for the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center and in family practice with the U.S. Army Medical Corp.

Blumenshine’s primary focus is women’s health. She has six years of experience as an obstetric nurse with the Riverton hospital and has worked as a nurse for Four Corners and Fremont Community Health Center.  She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, KS; an Associate Degree in Nursing from Central Wyoming College; and a Master’s of Science in nursing from Frontier Nursing University.

The staff at FCHC, according to Shirk, “makes it easy to take care of your health and your family’s health,” because “excellence in health care” is their primary goal. They are also willing to accept and automatically bill all insurances. 

FCHC is currently accepting patients at 511 N. 12th St. in Riverton. To make an appointment, call 307-463-7160 Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. or after-hours call 307-235-2501 or 307-232-9991 to reach an on call provider for the clinic. 

FCHC offers 100% access to health care services to all Fremont County residents. The Center offers a sliding fee scale based on qualifying income, and accepts and automatically bills all insurances.
