Lucille Thompson died at the age of 94 on Monday, October 3rd 2016 at Autumn Leaves Memory Care in Glen Ellyn Illinois. She was born on March 18th 1922 in Chicago Illinois. She was the daughter of Joseph and Lucy Shultz. On May 1st 1943, she married Donald Thompson in Chicago.
In 1945 they moved to Lander Wyoming where Lucille helped start the first kindergarten class. Lu was a charter member of the ESA sorority and she was active in both church and social gatherings.
In 1955 they moved back to Illinois and lived in Cary on the Fox River, until they opened Don and Lu’s Children’s Clothing Store in Crystal Lake, which they had for 25 years.
Lu was an active member of First United Methodist Church serving in numerous ways, especially as a guiding member of the walk to Emmaus Community. She served her Lord through encouragement of friends and loving her family above all else. She and Don loved to travel spending spring and summer at their cabin in Wyoming and winters in Maui.
She is preceded in death by Donald in April of 2005. She is survived by her four children; Paul (Donna) Thompson of Lander WY, Donna (Chuck) Pheneger of West Chicago IL, Bruce (Joellen) Thompson of Brier WA, and Barb (Dan) Zuspan of Snohomish WA. Eight grandchildren; Jennifer and Justin (Renee) Thompson, Matt (Laura) Pheneger, Tammy Lockett, Chris (Julie) Pheneger, Callie (Matt) Peterson, Nathan (Michelle) Zuspan, Kacie Zuspan. She was blessed with 13 great grandchildren; Ephran, Brianna, and Jeremy Lockett, Claire, Alyssa, and Braeden Pheneger, Mya, Elly and Nolan Pheneger, Trilyn Thompson, Lucy Peterson, Jada and Daron Zuspan. Her 14th great grandchild is on her way any day.
Memorial Service will be held at 2pm Saturday October 8th at First United Methodist Church, 236 W. Crystal Lake Avenue, Crystal Lake; Rev. Bob Baker officiating. Interment at McHenry County Memorial Park in Woodstock Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Online condolences may be submitted at querhammerandflagg.com
