The entire Fremont County community is invited to join in the three-day interfaith Nativity Celebration, "Unto us a Son is given," from December 1st through December 3rd. The event is open 5pm - 9pm Thursday and Friday. On Saturday it will be open from 10am - 7pm. Everything will take place at 430 Elizabeth Dr. in Riverton.

As well as Nativity sets, the event will include art, music and children’s activities. Event coordinators, Amy Phister and Jo Ann Shane said everyone is invited to share their own nativity sets. Hundreds of Nativity scenes from around the world will be displayed. If you would like to share yours please contact Phister at 307-851-7020 or Shane at 307-349-1474.

Other activities

There will be a children’s center with canopies and tents, art projects, storytellers, puppet shows, dreidel spinning and a nativity scavenger hunt. Family photos can be taken at the photo center, with the backdrop of a stable, and nativity costumes for the family.

The “Life of Christ Room” will feature art depicting Jesus throughout his life. Everyone is welcome to share pieces from their home, Phister said. Security will be in effect all three days and overnight.

A variety of local musicians and choirs will perform every half hour throughout the event, including performances by the interfaith Celebration Choir at 7:00pm on Friday and the “Live Nativity Musical Special” at 6:00pm on Saturday, which will incorporate violins, flute, piano, organ. The audience will be invited to join in singing some Christmas Carols. The script for the evening will be taken from the second chapter of the Gospel of Luke.
