Fremont Symphony Orchestra's concert, "Suite Romance" starts Saturday, November 5th
(Lander, Wyo.) – Fremont Symphony Orchestra (FSO) Conductor Rebecca Murdock has announced the annual fall concert for the orchestra's 30th season.
Murdock said the November 5th concert, "Suite Romance," would feature Jefferson County (Colorado) Symphony principal flutist Elizabeth Hicks-Kimmey as soloist. The orchestra will accompany her performance of Camille Chaminade's "Concerto for Flute and Orchestra."
The orchestra will also accompany 16 year-old Dubois violinist Camille Barnes' solo performance of Beethoven's "Romance in F". Barnes has studied with Murdock for more than 13 years.
Murdock said the fall concert also includes the "The Sea Hawk" suite based on soundtrack music that composer Erich Korngold wrote for the 1940 Errol Flynn swashbuckler, "Romance" and "Two Dances" by English composer Edward German written as incidental music for a play "The Conqueror" (1905), Czech composer Antonin Dvorak's "The American Suite" Op. 98b (1895) and Georges Bizet's "Carmen Suite No. 1" compiled from his opera several years after the French composer's 1875 death.
Although most Fremont County Orchestra members live within Fremont County, orchestra performers also come from several other Wyoming counties.
The concert will be at 7 p.m. in the Lander Valley High School Concert Hall.
($ 10.00 / person; $ 20.00 / family) are available at the door. A reception follows the concert.
Murdock said that individual FSO members would participate in the annual Fund-Raiser Concert during January with specific time and location to be announced. The orchestra will present its spring concert March 18, 2017.
The FSO concert series is supported in part by grants from the Lander District Recreation Board, the Lander Community Foundation, area businesses and supportive Fremont County residents.
