Farm-to-Table celebration with Chef Renee Kelly planned for Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association annual leadership and awards dinner
Annual event on Sept. 30 celebrates Kansas City restaurant-industry leadership and education, featuring scholarships for area hospitality students
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Aug. 22, 2018) – The Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association, representing restaurants on both sides of the state line and throughout the greater Kansas City region, will celebrate the leadership of its members and employees at this year’s Gilbert/Robinson (GR) Dinner on Sunday, Sept. 30 at Johnson County Community College. The theme for this year’s event will be Farm-to-Table and feature keynote guest speaker and locally renowned chef, Renee Kelly.
Employee of the Year Awards
The GR Dinner showcases the outstanding contributions in the Kansas City restaurant industry through its Employee of the Year awards. These awards represent the highest honors in the Kansas City restaurant community and are given to industry leaders that have been nominated by their employers and peers. Nominations for this year’s awards are open now through Aug. 31 and the recipients of these awards will be unveiled at the Sept. 30 event.
Each year, the GR Dinner honors the future of the restaurant industry with the presentation of scholarships to area students pursuing careers in the hospitality industry. The scholarships range in amounts from $1,000-$3,000 and are hand-picked each year by members of the GKRCA board through essays and interviews. The GKCRA donates more than $25,000 to the future of the restaurant industry in Kansas City each year.
Tickets and Table Sponsorships
Tickets and sponsorships are available for purchase by calling (816) 753-5222. Individual tickets are priced at $50 and student tickets are $25. Table sponsorships are also available for $500 and include eight seats with table and event signage.
The Gilbert/Robinson Dinner celebrates a standard of excellence set by former Kansas City restaurant firm, Gilbert/Robinson. Founded in 1961, the Kansas City-based restaurant company became a national leader in the industry with distinguished innovations in menu, decor and service. The group created several legendary concepts in the Kansas City market including Houlihan's, Bristol Seafood Grill, Fedora Café and Bar, Plaza III and Fred P. Ott's.
