Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association announces Gregg Johnson as Restaurateur of the Year and Sysco as Company of the Year,

KANSAS CITY, MO. (Nov. 5, 2019) – The Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association (GKCRA) announces Gregg Johnson as the Restaurateur of the Year and Sysco Kansas City as the Company of the Year. These esteemed awards are the highest honors a member can receive from the GKCRA.

The Restaurateur of the Year and Company of the Year honors are presented at the Inaugural Gala on January 25, 2020 at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown. The event celebrates the individuals and businesses making an impact in the Kansas City restaurant industry.

The event will also officially inaugurate the new GKCRA president Jon Branstetter and the new Missouri Restaurant Association President Gregory Hunsucker along with the new board of directors and officers for the association’s 104th year.

2020 GKCRA Restaurateur of the Year – Gregg Johnson of Minsky’s Pizza, Osteria Il Centro, and eggtc.

Gregg Johnson is the founder and owner of Minsky’s Pizza, Osteria Il Centro and eggtc. Johnson opened the first Minsky’s Pizza locations in 1976 on South Plaza at 51st and Main. The restaurant now has 18 locations across the Kansas City area. In 1995, Johnson founded Osteria Il Centro, an Italian bistro with an extensive wine list of over 1,000 selections. It has won 22 consecutive Wine Spectator “Best of Excellence” awards. In 2006, Johnson founded eggtc., a breakfast, lunch and brunch concept, with a location in Kansas City and Shawnee.
