Hattie Larlham supporters give back on Giving Tuesday

On Giving Tuesday, Nov.29, Hattie Larlham supporters donated more than $60,114 to create opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Funds raised support programs that empower people at Hattie Larlham to be active, valued members of their community.

The Twinsburg, Ohio based nonprofit encouraged audiences to repost messages on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram. Hattie Larlham supporters could utilize its text-to-give platform and donate from its website at

A generous matching gift from Grace and Ron Barber and RG Barber Consultants, CPAs doubled Giving Tuesday donations. For the fourth year, every donation made to Hattie Larlham on Giving Tuesday was matched by the Barbers, dollar-for-dollar, up to $15,000.

On Giving Tuesday, volunteers from businesses and organizations lead activities for people with disabilities. Volunteers from Darko, Cardinal Health, Kepich Ford, The Dye family, Terex-Demag, US Bank and Turner Construction participated in holiday crafts, decorating and delivering gifts. In the evening, students from the Walsh Jesuit High School choir visited the Hattie Larlham Center for Children with Disabilities in Mantua to sing Christmas carols.

“Giving Tuesday is an opportunity for our supporters to connect with the people we serve,” said Annual Fund Director Rosanne Drake. “We work together as a community on Giving Tuesday to raise funds and awareness for Hattie Larlham and people with disabilities. People give how they can and we are appreciative of the great support we continue to receive on this day every year.”

Since 2012, Giving Tuesday has expanded Hattie Larlham’s online giving community. Hattie Larlham is still accepting holiday donations at Donations are tax-deductible and encouraged year-round.

Established in 1961, Hattie Larlham is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Twinsburg, Ohio. The organization provides residential, medical, recreational and work training services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
