Hattie Larlham opens new program for people with disabilities in Stow
On Mon., March 13, Hattie Larlham opened a new Constant Companions program for adults with disabilities at 1672 Norton Road in Stow, Ohio. Constant Companions is a day program for adults with disabilities. Participants engage in social, recreational and volunteer activities that focus on choice. The program creates opportunities for participants to build life skills and become valued members of their community.
The Stow location can serve up to 50 people a day and employs 12 people who include a site manager, a licensed practical nurse and 10 staff. Proximity to community resources and a demand for disability services in the area guided Hattie Larlham’s decision to open a program in Stow.
“We encourage each of our participants to explore how they can become active members of their community,” says Constant Companions Program Director Stacy Timm. “This location is just steps away from community resources including shops, restaurants, recreational facilities and other organizations where our participants can volunteer. We also have a bus so we can take trips beyond this area and show our participants other ways to get involved.”
Constant Companions is open weekdays from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. With the addition of the Stow program, Hattie Larlham has eight Constant Companions, serving 233 people with disabilities. In April, Hattie Larlham opens its ninth location at 700 Beta Drive in Mayfield Village.
Tours are available at the Constant Companions near you. Contact Program Director Stacy Timm at 330-760-2744 if you are interested in services for your loved one with disabilities. To see a list of locations, visit www.hattielarlham.org.
