The UNH-IOL to Host the First Test Event for the Ethernet Alliance PoE Certification Program
Passing devices will be eligible for listing on the Certified Product Registry
Durham, N.H., August 15, 2017-- The University of New Hampshire InterOperability Lab (UNH-IOL), an independent provider of broad-based testing and standards conformance solutions for the networking industry, is excited to announce they will be hosting a test event to kick-off the Ethernet Alliance Power over Ethernet (PoE) Certification Program during the week of October 2-6, 2017 in Durham, N.H. Testing results from this event can be used to apply for the PoE certification program, which will promote interoperability of products based on IEEE 802.3™ PoE specifications. Passing devices will be some of the first listed products in the Ethernet Alliance Certified Product Registry.
The Ethernet Alliance, a global consortium dedicated to the continued success and advancement of Ethernet technologies, announced earlier this year the launch of the PoE certification program which will enable the recognition of interoperable products designed to available IEEE 802.3 PoE standards. The Ethernet Alliance Certification Logo test plan focuses on tests that have been determined as indicators of interoperability. The UNH-IOL has been selected as the test house to provide testing reports for the certification program.

The upcoming test event is open to all companies who wish to participate in the program. Attendance is not required to participate in this event; companies simply ship their device for testing and all passing devices will be listed on the certified product registry. Registration is currently open on the UNH-IOL website.
The Ethernet Alliance PoE Certification Program will eliminate confusion and interoperability concerns for end users by verifying that Power Sourcing Equipment (PSEs) and Powered Devices (PDs) being used will work properly together. Products that have successfully passed the specified requirements in the Ethernet Alliance certification test plan will receive a certified PoE logo to provide peace of mind to users. The logo provides an easy visual indication to users whether a device is a PSE or PD and help the end-user to determine which devices will work together.
PoE Testing Services are available through the UNH-IOL. In addition, audit memberships are available for Ethernet Alliance members to become approved for 1st party testing. The UNH-IOL will also be providing verification testing for Test Equipment manufacturers who wish to be approved for 1st party testing.
