Jax Fish House makes sustainable seafood the star of its October menu (and year-round menu, too) during National Seafood Month

Chef de Cuisine Theresia Ota features a different sustainable fish entrée each week, Thursday – Saturday, during October

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Sept. 27, 2016) – Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar Chef de Cuisine Theresia Ota is creating five custom dishes for October’s National Seafood Month that will be available Thursday, Friday and Saturday and will change each week, starting on Thursday, Sept. 29. Each of the dishes feature sustainable fish that appear on the “Best Choices” or “Good Alternatives” lists as compiled by Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch program. The program helps consumers and businesses choose seafood that is fished or farmed in ways that protect sea life and habitats, now and for future generations. Jax is the only restaurant in the Kansas City metro and state of Missouri to be recognized as an official restaurant partner of the Seafood Watch program. There are also no restaurant partners in the state of Kansas.

The weekly National Seafood Month specials will be offered Thursday through Saturday throughout the month of October. The featured sustainable fish and dates available are as follows:

  • Sept. 29 – Oct. 1: Iowa Barramundi from Vero Blue Farms and sourced by Seattle Fish
  • Oct. 6 – 8: Opah line caught in Hawaii and sourced from Northeast Seafood
  • Oct. 13 – 15: Walleye from the Great Lakes and sourced by Northeast Seafood
  • Oct. 20 – 22: Red Rock Cod from the Pacific Northwest and sourced by Northeast Seafood
  • Oct. 27 – 29: Florida Stone Crab Claws from Fortune Fish & Gourmet
