Shopping Resale Can Help Families Cut Costs in Half for Fall/Winter Seasons

Local Mom & Dad helping families make & save money at Pittsburgh area Just Between Friends consignment events

Pittsburgh, PA – Families recently sent kids back to school and their wallets most likely took a big hit. Now, fall is here and Halloween and the holiday season are not far behind. This can be an expensive season for many families.

  • The National Retail Federation says the average family will spend more than $83 per person on Halloween and nearly $1000 per family for holiday gifts.

Kelly and Jed Robie, parents of five children, are helping area families save and make money at Just Between Friends consignment events throughout the Pittsburgh region.

SAVE MONEY: Families will find everything they need to raise their children, from preemie to tween as well as maternity items. Bargains range from clothing, shoes and accessories, toys, baby equipment, to game systems, electronics, books and much more. Everything is generally 50% to 90% off retail prices.

EARN MONEY: Families can also make money to help with their family budget. All consignors earn 60% of the sales, and 70%, if they volunteer during the event. All consignors get to shop early at the JBF Pittsburgh presales.

SAFETY: Just Between Friends is also a leader in safety for the resale shopping industry. Kami Snowbarger is Director of Product Communications for JBF and works closely with several safety groups including the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Kids in Danger and We Make it Safer.

  • Make sure items you are purchasing have all of the parts and are in good, working condition. JBF volunteers will help you inspect an item before purchasing.
  • If you are unsure about an item, you can easily check it out with the recall app found at We Make It Safer.
  • Shop sales and stores that put safety first. At Just Between Friends events, they have workers who inspect items, checking for recalls. They also provide up-to-date recall lists for shoppers to view.

GIVING BACK: All clothing, equipment, toys and other items that do not sell and are marked for donation are given to local charities. JBF Greater Pittsburgh is excited to partner with our choice charity - Living In Liberty!
