Kansas City Originals’ 2nd annual Red, Dine & Blue dining event raises $35,000 for local nonprofit HeroFundUSA on 18th anniversary of 9/11

91 participating restaurants and eateries throughout the metro donated 10 percent of sales on Sept. 11, 2019

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Nov. 7, 2019) – The Kansas City Originals, the metro’s nonprofit independent restaurant association, organized its 2nd annual Red, Dine & Blue dining event on Wednesday, Sept. 11, the 18th anniversary of 9/11 to remember that fateful day’s victims and heroes. The event saw 91 restaurants and eateries throughout the metro participate, an increase of nearly 70 percent compared to the inaugural Red, Dine & Blue event in 2018. Participating restaurants and eateries donated 10 percent of sales on Sept. 11, resulting in a collective total raised of $35,000 that will be donated to local nonprofit HeroFundUSA, the Red, Dine & Blue beneficiary, at a check presentation on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 2:30 p.m. Last year’s inaugural Red, Dine & Blue raised more than $16,500 for HeroFundUSA, the event’s beneficiary.
